BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Politeknik Brunei yesterday saw the debut launching of an Interior Design Exhibition entitled “Identity” at Jalan Ong Sum Ping.

The exhibition aims to elevate the students’ portfolio to the professional level to fulfil the requirements of industries and institution of higher education as well as to raise public and employers’ awareness towards an understanding and recognition of Politeknik Brunei’s programmes.

The Exhibition was officially launched by the Vice-President of the Architects, Engineers and Surveyors Association (PUJA) Brunei Darussalam, Dyg Siti Rozaimeriyanti Dato Seri Lela Jasa Hj Abd Rahman.

Twenty-nine students attending the Advance Diploma Course in Interior Design, display products of their creative work through interior design proposals, analysis, research, exploration of ideas in 2D and 3D as well as in the form of contractual drawings. Designs produced are based on the concepts of recreation, exhibition, services, trade and education.

A presentation of prizes and certificates to the students was also held during the event. According to the students, some difficulties were encountered in producing the designs according to their respective concepts in less than four months.

These students clarify on the concepts of the designs they produced. Khairul Hapiz Abd Ghaffar uses the bonsai technique for his design to project the green concept to the public. On the other hand, Awg Abd Khalid Jarudin chooses a Mosque as his design concept to introduce Brunei Darussalam to tourists as a country that practises the MIB dogma.

Meanwhile, Nur Nadirah Hj Zulzali has her own reason for using pocket watch as her building concept. She explains that it symbolises time restrictions and the environment or condition of an area that could cause traffic conjunctions at times. She believes the building designs could be helpful in subsequent research work.

The exhibition also aims to market the students’ projects and offer them job opportunities at the professional level after they have completed their studies with the presence of the relevant organisations.

Qualification with Advanced Diploma from Politeknik Brunei is recognized by the Brunei Darussalam National Qualification Accreditation Council and is equivalent to the BDTVEC Higher National Diploma.

The exhibition is open to the public until tomorrow from 8am until 4.30pm. BRUDIRECT.COM.
